Lost in a Feeling
- an exploration of the roles and unique challenges of men and women in modern times.

Why Are We Here?

The Worldview Centre exists for many reasons on many different levels. At its most inspired, we are here to make what contribution we can to the evolution of consciousness in our culture.

This is important because the current dominant worldview of modern western culture is causing irrepairable damage to the planet our children will inherit. Every species that becomes extinct through pollution, habitat loss, environmental exploitation and rampant consumerism is a crime against future generations, and we are losing upwards of 100 species per day. We sleep better at night knowing that at least we are trying to do something.

Perhaps just as importantly, the evolution of consciousness matters because there is less suffering the higher you go. There may be just as much pain as in the earlier stages, but a more evolved mind tends to suffer less. So in some small way, our centre exists to help drain the ocean of suffering in which so many are drowning or adrift.

At the more mundane levels, the Worldview Centre exists because it is an interesting way to earn a living. It has the benefit that we get the privilege of living in this beautiful location. It's also a way for us to meet inspired souls and to fulfill our need for companionship on this journey of life. In short, in terms of a choice of livelihood, it is the best option we could think of to create conditions that are most conducive to the continuing evolution of our own consciousness.

About Us

My name is Terry Bishop and this beautiful woman is Deborah Drummond. We are not special in the usual sense... we do not have Ph.D's, nor have we written any best-sellers or appeared on the Oprah show. We do not channel archangels or spontaneously manifest ash or gold watches. Neither of us have been photographed shaking hands with Bill Clinton. Nor do we claim to know what is true or right for you, or to have the Great Key that you can use like magic to achieve instant enlightenment.

We have however led unusual lives, and we've learnt some cool stuff along the way. Between us we have travelled to hundreds of countries over many decades. We have lived and worked in Europe, Africa and the US. Deb has travelled extensively in India and Nepal. Terry lived for 18 months on a yacht in the Caribbean. We both worked in the computer business, which in Terry's case made him a multi-millionaire, at least for a while. The money gave us freedom from the usual grind, which we have both used to go deeply into the big questions of life... Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? How should I live? What's the point of it all anyway?

We searched the wisdom traditions and western psychology for some clarity. Deb spent a chunk of time with an Indian Hindi mystic by the name of Baba Hari Dass, while Terry read the works of American philosopher and mystic Ken Wilber (20+ books) and attended every Integral workshop and gathering he could find. In 2001 we returned to Australia where we both retrained as transpersonal counsellors (Expressive Therapists). In 2003, we purchased a large farmhouse on a beautiful property (that just happened to border the Chenrezig Buddhist Institute) which we have since converted into the Worldview Centre.

The Worldview Centre is about creating a place where those simple skills are available for anyone with the desire to learn. Our more advanced courses are for those who are ready to begin opening doors of perception into realms that the normal ego-self cannot even see.
