Astrid de Ruiter

Astrid started her professional life with the modest question of wanting to know how the world works, initially leading her to obtain a masters in applied physics. She then  discovered an unquenchable desire to help change that world for the better, leading her into the field of the physics of renewable energies for a number of years.

A gentle but firm wake-up call in her early 30s helped her realise that the real mystery is human life itself, and how to live that life fully. After some extensive soul searching and world travel, she retrained as a counsellor. Through practical experience of working with clients, Astrid discovered the benefits of mindfulness meditation and practice to transform difficult emotions like anxiety, stress, depression and anger.

Astrid has practised mindfulness meditation for about eight years, studied with various teachers and for three years has been teaching people mindfulness skills and how to use them to create a more peaceful and meaningful life.
