Integral Approach to Social Change
An Integral Approach to Social Change ~ We are all aware (sometimes to painful degrees) of the need for urgent change in the way our society hangs together. Aside from the usual suspects of climate change, the biodiversity crisis, war and terrorism, there are a wide array of other indicators suggesting our culture is in serious trouble... rising rates of depression, obesity, addiction, rampant materialism and a widespread crisis of meaning. Meanwhile the education system is barely adequate, the health system is bulging at the seams, and our politicians seem to be busily arranging the deck-chairs on the Titanic. The Integral Approach is perhaps the most powerful tool in existence to find new perspectives on the emerging global and local calamaties. Using Integral, we can make immediate sense of what we see on the nightly news. With understanding, creativity explodes, revealing an abundance of options on how to begin to appraoch the truly big questions of our age. During the weekend, we will:
- Use the integral model to gain understanding of the broader task we all face as a species.
- Examine the three major worldviews that dominate cultural affairs in western democracies with a view of developing 'skillful means' as we engage these worldviews in change strategies.
- Work with case studies from participants to collectively explore creative strategies.
